| Velmex Large Format Printer News Canon ImagePROGRAF wins Best Wide Format Product Line of the Year The Canon Image PROGRAF 8300s has won the BERTL’s ‘Best’ 44inch Graphics Arts Large Format Printer and along with the 6300s has been voted BERTL’s ‘Best’ Wide Format Product line of the year. The awards are presented twice a year by BERTL, an independent testing laboratory, whose main purpose is to provide in-depth reports and analyses on imagined devices and software. The awards are determined by a combination of information which comes from the laboratory analysis and worldwide customer satisfaction research across 11 testing criterias. BERTL awarded Canon 7 ‘BEST’ awards in the following categories which recognised outstanding image quality, value and performance.

Velmex launch Canon Media Specialists Programme Press release: CANON LARGE FORMAT MEDIA FINDS STOCK WITH SPECIALIST RESELLERS Mitcham Surrey; Thursday 17 November, 2011 - A group of resellers have been appointed, Canon Media Specialist, by Velmex Distribution and approved to supply the complete range of Canon LFP media now readily available in the UK. Velmex Distribution, the Canon large format printer distributor, has announced, previously difficult to obtain, Canon LFP media is now stocked and ready to supply through selective LFP resellers. The decision to go selective was decided by the company in an effort to show customers just how exceptional and cost effective the Canon range of media can be. Not confident this message was understood fully in the channel, Velmex Distribution decided to create a select distribution policy with the aim to keep margin in the product for resellers and knowledge levels high. Velmex Distribution’s Sales Director, Brendan Wright said “By taking this specialist approach it has enabled us to ensure a superior service through our appointed outlets. A media substrate technologist devised an examination to determine the skill level at our media outlets and the resellers appointed have shown a high degree of knowledge about print media. Velmex announce agreement to distribute Contex scanners Press Release: Canon’s largest UK based wide format distributor, Velmex Distribution, has announced an exclusive agreement to distribute a Contex scanner and Canon wide format printer bundle. When purchased as a bundle, customers will save up to £700 and the solution will be fully supported by Velmex Distribution. Velmex Distribution has formed an exclusive partnership with Contex and is now the only distributor to sell the specific Contex/Canon bundle. The bundle will comprise of a Canon imagePROGRAF printer, the award winning Contex NextImage software, a 17” touch screen display and a Contex scanner SD4420 (printers 36” and above) or a XD2490 (24” CAD printers). When bought together, the solution will save customers up to £700 and provide them with a fully supported product from one source. New Velmex iPF8300 Video The Big Print Plan - Pay As You Go Large Format Is A Great Success Press release: The recently released Big Print Plan by the Canon UK Distributor, Velmex has seen impressive sales of the UK’s only pay as you go large format rental scheme. The high level of support and ease of upgrading products is thought to be the reason the plan is exceeding sales expectations. Velmex the UK distributor for Canon’s large format printers has witnessed a significant sales response to the recently released Big Print Plan, pay as you go large format rental scheme. The Surrey based distributor devised the scheme for customers wanting an easy monthly payment solution to owning a large format printer. The Big Print Plan provides customers with a fully inclusive service and support solution, whilst offering a simple monthly billing system for rental and ink usage. ‘The introduction of the Big Print Plan gives users a fully supported, cash flow friendly approach to large format printing’ says Brendan Wright, Velmex Sales Manager. ‘We have been very pleased with the customer take up and customer installations are well ahead of projected levels. The Big Print Plan has been very successful with both first time large format users and experienced high volume users. We noticed that one customer’s ink usage was much higher than expected for the volume of prints produced. One of our technicians alerted the customer, connected into the system and found that the user had accidently set the wrong output settings. Within minutes we had corrected the problem and reduced the customers ink usage by over 50%. This level of customer support is only possible because of the advanced reporting system built into the Big Print Plan’. The Big Print Plan allows customers to rent the printer and only pay for the ink they have used. There is no large upfront outlay for ink. All inks, waste ink cartridges, print heads, warranty and support are provided for the full rental term. As part of the ongoing Big Print Plan agreement Velmex will update the printer software, drivers and add new media profiles as they become available. For any significant software upgrades they will not only install but also train customers on the upgrade. Keeley said ‘The Big Print Plan customers will always have the latest options available to them giving them the best possible chance to maximise profit from their printer’. Both the imagePROGRAF iPF825 and iPF815 large format printers have been built for high-speed production of full-colour and monochrome output to meet the needs of the Geographical Information System (GIS); Computer-Aided Design (CAD); Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC); Reprographics; and other Technical Document markets.

Velmex Distribution based in Mitcham Surrey, announced today their strategic relationship with EFI to boost their product offerings into the large format channel. EFI’s prepress and production products provide an end to end solution when used with the recently Fogra certified Canon 12 colour inkjet products and Canon imagePRESS C1+ laser product. Velmex, the leading Canon UK large format distributor now have a Fogra certified engineer who can calibrate and install a Colorproof XF system that produces an “EFI-Fogra certification for inkjet products” and “EFI-Fogra verification for toner based products” compliant proof. Testing speed on 60” glossy paper the iPF8000s was 2min 17 sec faster than the HP DeisgnJet in normal mode. The colour gamut was also tested resulting in the iPF8000 having a 25.3% greater colour gamut than the HP. This test was conducted independently by BLI. The Canon imagePROGRAF iPF810 and imagePROGRAF iPF820 are both five-colour dye and pigment printers that combine fast output production speeds with efficient ink usage and a low total cost of ownership, making them two of the most appealing printers in the sector. The imagePROGRAF iPF810 and iPF820 are capable of reproducing A1 prints in 24 seconds and A0 prints in 47 seconds, significantly faster than some of their market leading rivals. In addition, they can reproduce fine line widths down to 0.02mm1, with a range accuracy of 0.1%1, a factor that is crucial in the CAD / GIS markets where precision in building plans, maps and technical designs is critical. Shane Burchett, LFP Product Professional, CBS Marketing, Canon UK says: “The iPF810 and iPF820 series can compete at the top end of the market on speed, accuracy and price, all of which are vital components in the CAD / GIS production market. The other option is for large corporate CAD and GIS companies, and local governments with multiple users who need fast, high capacity printers for fast turnaround to produce large amounts of documents. The major difference between the printers is the iPF820 is equipped with a dual roll capability with auto switching, enabling it to handle large print runs with different types and sizes of media. The iPF810, on the other hand, has an optional take-up unit for fast consecutive printing and enabling unmanned printing. Both printers are capable of borderless printing – a feature unique to Canon – saving time in finishing by removing the need for edge trimming. “Hot swap” ink tanks in 330ml and 700ml capacity enables the user to switch ink cartridge units on the fly, without interrupting the print run.
